Some businesses use a corporate Facebook page to inform employees about new programs or policies. eg: use of corporate blogs, Facebook pages.

# Through social media, conversations have changed both internally and externally in organizations. There is a requirement for the company and its employees to engage in a two-way dialogue. HR uses social media to start the conversations. eg: video conference through whatsapp.

On social media platforms, recruitment is one of the most popular HR topics. These platforms have speed up the recruitment process, which includes steps such as posting a job, collecting resumes, conducting interviews, and making offers, among others. Social media targets a wide audience, making it a useful and effective recruitment tool.

# Social media can also be used to get a 360-degree feedback from employees. It has the potential to encourage collaboration among the company's various stakeholders and employees. It can also help with learning and development by providing access to training in real time and on the go. Social media allows for interacting with employees both before, during and after the actual training session.

An expert directory, another social media tool, simplifies and improves the process of connecting subject matter experts with others within an organization. Information on experts' specific competencies, current and past projects, and more can be found in these directories. Creating a culture in which experts are willing to share their knowledge internally can be extraordinarily powerful.

Employers have created communities of practice, groups where workers with similar expertise or interests can share ideas and ask questions on internal forums, in order to foster informal, employee-driven learning.

The growth of smartphones with high-definition video and broadband networks has fueled the use of video as an employee learning tool. As a result, more businesses are creating YouTube-like repositories on their intranets where employees can share knowledge-sharing videos.

Disadvantages - Social media in HR 😕

# Exposing networks to attacks-Visiting social networking sites at work can expose company networks to malware, including adware and spyware. Malware, or malicious software, is designed to take control of and damage a computer. It can help hackers steal identities and data.
